The difference between Purified Water and Demineralised Water mainly concerns the level of purity and electrical conductivity, a parameter used to indicate the presence of dissolved salts and ions. Generally, Purified Water has very low conductivity – less than 1 microsiemens (µS/cm) – indicating a high degree of purity achieved through advanced filtration processes. Demineralised Water, on the other hand, whilst being free of most mineral salts, generally has a conductivity of less than 10 microsiemens (µS/cm). Both are used in technical, industrial and laboratory settings, but the choice between the two depends on the level of purity required by the specific process or application.
